How to control my lamp using Alexa?

With the Luke Roberts skill and Alexa, you can now interact with your Luke Roberts Smart Lamps by voice. To get started, follow our Alexa Setup Tutorial. This will enable the Cloud Bridging feature and for your lamps.

The Luke Roberts skill for Alexa will be able to control you lamps if:

  • The lamp you want to control is powered on. If the lamp has been switched off with the light switch, it cannot be turned on using Alexa commands.
  • At least one smartphone or tablet is in range of the lamp.

Using the Luke Roberts skill and Alexa, you can control the following functions:

SWITCH ON/OFF

You can use, for example, the following command to turn your lamp on or off:

  • "Alexa, turn on Bedroom"
  • "Alexa, turn off Bedroom"

If the lamp is already on, turning the lamp on again will activate the next light scene. The sequence of light scenes will follow you setting for Click Detection, that you can adjust in the settings screen in the Luke Roberts App.

BRIGHTNESS

You can use, for example, the following commands to adjust the brightness of your currently active light scene:

  • "Alexa, set Kitchen to 10%"
  • "Alexa, set Kitchen to 50%"
  • "Alexa, dim Kitchen"
  • "Alexa, brighten Kitchen"
  • "Alexa, dim Kitchen by 30%"

COLOR

To adjust temporarily the color of your uplight to the ceiling, you can use, for example, the following commands:

  • "Alexa, set Bedroom to red"
  • "Alexa, set Bedroom to blue"

WARM/COOL LIGHT

To adjust the color temperature of your downlight for the currently active light scene, you can use, for example, the following commands:

  • "Alexa, set Kitchen to warm white"
  • "Alexa, set Kitchen to cool white"

In case the current light scene has no active white light (only color), the commands will have no effect.

Using this skill to change the lamp's active light scene in brightness or color will not affect the original light scene saved in the lamp. Activating the original light scene again from the Luke Roberts app or using the switch will restore the original setting.
